* To remove labels that are stuck on glass jars, briskly rub on mayonnaise, and then soak the jar in warm water. The label will peel right off.
* When washing corduroy garments, add ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse water. The fabric will be brighter and lint-free.
* For help in making beds, I have stitched a thread at the center top of my sheets, blankets and bedspreads. When all the threads line up with the center of the headboard, I know it’s made right. A tip for the elderly with any kind of eyesight issues.
* Protect the kitchen timer and buttons on the blender from messy fingers and spills by covering them with plastic.
* Candle wax can be removed from table linens by rubbing the spots with a generous amount of vegetable oil. Wipe off excess oil with a paper towel and then wash as you normally would.
* If you run out of fabric softener liquid or sheets, substitute hair conditioner. For a full load, try ¼ - ½ cup.
* To remove soap scum from glass shower doors, apply lemon oil furniture polish with a soft cloth. This makes the doors sparkle for several showers.
* Does your refrigerator smell? Stuff brown paper bags in there to absorb the smell for one week. Change bags each day.
* To brighten dull silver, rub it with a piece of potato dipped in baking soda. And to really get rid of grease in your disposal use only cold water – it solidifies grease and grinds it up.
* Clean the drip plans from your electric cooktop by spraying them liberally with oven cleaner and placing in a plastic garbage bag overnight. In the morning take them out and wipe with a paper towel and then a damp towel.
